SAE Innova joins Phase Two of Project Credible to advance carbon farming across Europe
SAE Innova has joined the official launch of the second phase of the Project Credible, marking a new step in its mission to support the development of robust, science-based and trustworthy carbon farming policies and markets across Europe. Building on the results of its first phase, the project continues to bring together policymakers, researchers, land managers, practitioners and private-sector stakeholders, with SAE Innova playing an active role in supporting the effective and credible scaling of carbon farming practices.
This new phase places a stronger emphasis on the practical deployment of carbon farming and on contributing to the timely and robust implementation of the Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming (CRCF) Regulation. Credible aims to help bridge the gap between policy design and implementation by fostering collaboration across science, policy and practice and ensuring that emerging frameworks are both operationally feasible and environmentally sound.
The launch of the second phase was marked by a consortium meeting held in Madrid in June 2026, where partners gathered to reflect on key lessons from the first phase and define priorities for the coming years. Discussions focused on strengthening knowledge exchange, improving coordination across sectors, and developing practical tools and guidance to support stakeholders involved in carbon farming across Europe.
As part of the EU Mission "A Soil Deal for Europe", Credible will contribute during the next three years to the development of policy instruments that support more sustainable land use while ensuring environmental integrity, transparency and trust. The project works in close collaboration with key European institutions, including DG CLIMA, DG AGRI, the Research Executive Agency (REA), the Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the Expert Group on Carbon Removals.
The Credible consortium brings together 13 leading European organisations with expertise across research, policy and innovation. It is coordinated by EIT Food (Spain/Belgium) and includes SAE Innova (Spain), Climate KIC (Netherlands), Wageningen Research (Netherlands), EV-ILVO (Belgium), the European Environmental Bureau (Belgium), Ecologic Institute (Germany), the University of Tuscia (Italy), Wetlands International Europe (Netherlands), Institut de l'Élevage (France), Agrosolutions (France), Radica (Spain/Italy) and ELGO-DIMITRA (Greece). Together, these partners combine scientific and practical expertise to support the scaling of carbon farming systems across Europe.
In the coming years, Credible will deliver a set of targeted activities including policy briefs, analytical reports, webinars, capacity-building sessions and stakeholder engagement processes, alongside a dedicated online platform for knowledge exchange. The European Carbon Farming Summit, the project's flagship event, will continue to serve as a key European forum for dialogue and collaboration.
As the project enters this new phase, Credible remains committed to supporting the development of credible and effective carbon farming systems that contribute to Europe's climate and environmental objectives. Further updates will be shared as the project progresses.
